Privacy information

Spark Domain Blocker is a personal utility that runs locally on its owner’s Mac.

Data used and purpose

When the user opens the menu, the utility reads the selected message’s link, account address, sender address and message identifiers from Spark’s local data. It uses Google’s Gmail API to read filter settings and selected-message metadata, verify that the message matches, create a domain filter, and move the selected message to Trash. Removing the last app-created filter is a separate user action.

Storage and sharing

Google authorisation is managed locally by the gog command-line client. The utility does not collect the user’s Google password. It stores a local undo record containing the last created filter, account and domain. This record is replaced when another filter is created and removed when the last filter is undone.

The utility has no backend server, advertising or analytics. It does not upload mail data to an independent service, sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Gmail requests go directly to Google through the local client. The app does not store message bodies.

Spark Domain Blocker’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

These information pages are hosted by Netlify. They contain no analytics, advertising, cookies or forms added by the app developer. The hosting provider processes normal web request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the pages. No Gmail data is sent to this website.

Control and removal

The user can revoke the app’s access in their Google Account’s third-party connections settings, remove its local gog authorisation, and delete its local application data. Gmail filters remain until removed in Gmail or through the app’s last-filter undo action. Removing a filter does not restore messages from Trash. Google’s normal Trash retention applies.
